VARSITY

COACH KEN MANFREDI

Coach Manfredi is the Head Varsity Boys Basketball coach. He has been a teacher and basketball coach since 2000. Coach Manfredi will be entering his 7th season at Franklin High School where he also teaches Economics and Sports Psychology. As a student-athlete, Coach Manfredi played collegiate basketball at UC Davis from 1992-1996. While at UC Davis, he graduated with a degree in Political Science.

COACH MICHAEL MESSINA

Coach Messina is one of the Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coaches and joined the program in 2015. He has been coaching basketball since 2001 and prior to Franklin High School, he coached at Monterey Trail High School, Burbank High School, and Florin High School.

COACH CHRIS EMBERLEY

Coach Emberley is one of the Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coaches and joined the program in 2016. He has been coaching basketball in the Elk Grove Unified School District since 1997, beginning at Valley High School as both a JV Head Coach and then Varsity Assistant Coach. He continued as a Varsity Assistant Coach at Laguna Creek High School, Pleasant Grove High School, and at Elk Grove High School

JUNIOR VARSITY

COACH STEFAN JEFFERSON

Coach “J” is the Head Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. He has been coaching since 2012 teaching basketball fundamentals to youth of all ages at the local Cosumnes Community Services District. He joined the Franklin basketball program in 2014 as the Freshman Assistant Coach. He moved on to be the Head Freshman Coach in 2016 and became the Head Junior Varsity Coach in 2019.

COACH JAZTEIN BLACKMON

Coach Jaz is the Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Assistant Coach. He is a Franklin High School alumni, class of 2020. He was a four-year student athlete, team captain, and a two-time recipient of the prestigious basketball program “AES” award – Attitude, Effort, Skill. He joined the Franklin coaching staff in 2021 and will be entering his second season of coaching.

FRESHMAN

COACH CHRISTIAN TACTACAN

Coach “CT” is the Head Freshman Boys Basketball Coach. He is a Franklin High School alumni, class of 2015. He was a three-year student athlete and competed in multiple playoff games as a guard for the Franklin Wildcats. He joined the Franklin coaching staff in 2017 as the Freshman Assistant Coach and became Freshman Coach in 2019. He also coached the Toby Johnson 8th Grade Boys Basketball team beginning with the 2018/2019 season.

COACH ASHWIN MEHTA

Coach “Ash” is the Freshman Boys Basketball Assistant Coach. He is a Franklin High School alumni, class of 2018. He was a four-year student athlete and also competed in multiple playoff games for the Franklin Wildcats. He joined the Franklin coaching staff in 2018 as the Freshman Assistant Coach. He also coached the Toby Johnson 7th Grade Boys Basketball team beginning with the 2019/2020 season
